Acknowledgement of Country

Our Sir David Brand School community is honoured to be located on Whadjuk Country, the ancestral lands of the Nyoongar people. We acknowledge parents, families and communities as the first educators of their children. We recognise and value the learning that Aboriginal children bring with them from their homes and communities into the classroom. Aboriginal people have a long tradition of teaching and learning through sharing their connections with the land and sea, and through their stories and lived experiences that are passed from generation to generation. We also wish to pay our respects to the custodians and Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognise their connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and to Elders past, present and future.
